Units of Measure

The Unit of Measure section serves as a database for the units of measurement that are utilized on items in your Studio Designer account. Keep in mind, that these units act as a way to specify the quantity and/or amounts for an item.

To access this section, do the following:

Step 1. Go to Settings and scroll down to the Items/Products section.

Step 2. Next click on Unit of Measure.

Step 3. This will lead you to the Unit of Measurement page.

Once you are on the Unit of Measure page, you will notice that Studio Designer already comes with some preset units of measurement:

Each, Feet, Rolls, Sq. Ft., Sq. Yds., and Yards

If you would like to add a new unit of measurement, do the following:

Step 1. Click on + New Unit Of Measure towards the upper right-hand corner of the page.

Step 2.
On the New Unit Of Measure page, input the name of the unit of measurement. To ensure that this new unit appears in the system, make sure to check the Active box.

Step 3.
Once everything is set click on Save or Save & New.

Step 4:
When you go back to the Unit of Measurement page, your newly added unit will appear.

Some other things to keep in mind are the other selections you can make on the Unit of Measurement page:

  • Tax As One Item: When you check the box for this section it will allow you to tax items with quantities less than one (>1) as one (1) item rather than as individual items. For example, if you have four yards of fabric that will all be used on the same item and should be taxed as one (1) item. Keep in mind that this is only used for states that tax at multiple rates based on the total cost of the item.
  • Required: When you check the box for this section, it identifies required units of measurement that cannot be deleted.

Pro Tip: If you wish to set the unit of measurement to "Each" as a default, you can do this by going to Settings>My Company>Codes and check the box there. You can leave it unchecked if you wish to not have it default.
